THEN, submit the Simplified Interconnection Application for review.

  3. Installation site*
  4. Service address same as installation address?*
  5. Name of the business for interconnection.

  6. Will there be an Application Agent?*

I designate an Application Agent to serve as a single point of contact to coordinate with the DER Interconnection Coordinator on my behalf.

  7. About Application Agents

The Interconnection Customer may designate an Application Agent to serve as a single point of contact to coordinate with the DER Interconnection Coordinator on their behalf. Designation of an Application Agent does not absolve the Interconnection Customer from signing application documents and the responsibilities outlined in the Interconnection Process or in the interconnection agreements. DER vendors/contractors, project managers or electricians are common entities that the Interconnection Customer may designate to perform this role.  All communication, requests, and documentation would be sent to the Application Agent to share with the Interconnection Customer.

  8. Interconnection Company if applicable

  9. This person will serve as a single point of contact to coordinate with the DER Interconnection Coordinator (Utility Admin.) on their behalf.

Examples include:  DER vendors (such as Solar Agent/Coordinator), project managers or electricians.

  10. Please upload required documents.

For the Simplified Interconnection Application. Please use our forms as some have pre-filled standard verbiage.

  11. Only complete applications will be processed.

  12. This is a  diagram of the proposed DER system showing the point of common coupling, PCC, to the Area EPS Operator’s Distribution System.

  13. Include all certified equipment manufacturer specification sheets.

  14. A site layout drawing of the proposed DER system.

  15. Follow requirements on page 44 of Distributed Generation Policy.

  16. From the proper jurisdiction.

  17. From proper jurisdiction.

  18. Request Production Meter?*

If you wish to have a production meter installed, even if the utility does not require one, we can provide one for a fee. Please let our Master Electrician know in advance as this will need to be shown on the one-line diagram. Request a current price for the meter(s) using our Meter Cost-Estimate Request Form.

Please note that there is a $6 monthly fee to have a Production Meter.

  19. Please include any relevant notes, messages, or questions you may have at this time regarding this interconnection. The DER Coordinator will respond as soon as possible.

  20. Next Step:
    • Wait for approval. Simplified Process eligibility does not guarantee the Interconnection Application will pass the initial review screens. Failure to pass the screens will route the Interconnection Application to the Fast Track Process.  After the Application Fee and all required documents are received, the review process will begin at AMU.  Expect one of three outcomes:
      1. If any documents  are missing or need correction, notice will be given within ten (10) business days of submission.  Interconnection Customer/Agent will have five (5) business days to provide the missing/corrected documentation unless additional five (5) days are requested via email with valid reasons. Failure to submit the requested information within the stated timeline will result in the Interconnection Application being withdrawn, and re-application with application fee would be required.
      2. If/when all items are complete and acceptable, allow twenty (20) days for review and approval, with the master electrician's approval, installation may begin. Within an additional five (5) days, a Contract will be prepared and emailed to either the Interconnection Customer or the designated Application Agent for Customer's signature.  Preview our Sample Uniform Contract (PDF), pricing may change at anytime. The Interconnection Customer shall have thirty (30) Business Days to sign and return the Interconnection Agreement via email . An executed contract will be returned via email within five (5) business days, along with the master electrician's approval for installation to begin.
      3. The proposed DER system requires additional engineering studies  and/or project should be re-routed to another Process Track.

NOTE: An application to interconnect a certified(1) , inverter-based DER system no larger than 20 kilowatts (kW) shall be evaluated under the Simplified Process. A common form of DER inverter certification is UL 1741. Proposed DER systems that require Area EPS system modifications to accommodate the interconnection do not qualify for the Simplified Process. A transformer change, fusing upgrades or line extensions are common examples of Area EPS system modification. Simplified Process eligibility does not imply or indicate the Interconnection Application will pass the initial review screens. Failure to pass the screens will route the Interconnection Application to the Fast Track Process.

    (1) Additional information regarding certified equipment is found in Sections 14 and 15.
