Used Items for Sale

Instead of filling landfills, AMU strives to reduce, reuse, and repurpose items when possible. One of the ways of doing this is by making available to the public some of these items to reuse and repurpose, therefore reducing what we throw away.  Anoka Municipal Utility (AMU) often has an inventory of used Spools, Pallets, & Poles that are available for purchase for a low cost. 

A variety of wooden spools in different sizes. These empty cable reels range from roughly 54" diameter and 38" tall, to roughly 20" diameter and 12" tall.

Used Large Wire Spools for sale

Pallets - $2.00 each (exact cash only)

Wooden pallets from deliveries received, usually standard size. Most are usually in fair shape, some are damaged.

Utility Poles - $1.00 per foot (exact cash only)

Used utility poles, in a variety of lengths and diameters. Most have been removed and replaced due to their quality.  Some are in better condition than others. There are several partial poles and pieces, and others original length (up to 40 feet). As these are self-serve, there are a variety of lengths unknown as they have been cut, sometimes several times, with only partial pieces left. Since these are sold daily and without holds, pole lengths are difficult to quote over the phone.  Feel free to request a quick picture of the pile sent via email, if there are more than two admin on the clock, we are able to provide one if not snow-covered.  Come check it out when your able to see what we have while you're here!

Complete a purchase form ahead of time or at the shop to buy items for sale.  Find out  location to view or pick-up items for sale. Please bring exact cash only as we do not have a cash register on site to make change.

Prior to picking up any used Spools, Pallets, and/or Poles, please print and complete the Purchase Information Form. If you are unable to print these forms out to bring with you, we will have these blank forms at our location for you as well.

Location of Anoka Municipal Utility Shop

Come to Anoka Municipal Utility  (AMU) utility shop to check out what used items we have available for purchase as stock changes daily. There may not always be enough staff to check stock piles, so stop in the office for item locations and feel free to see what we have at the time. We do not hold any items, all is first-come, first-serve. Use our Contact Us Form or call the AMU office at 763-576-2903 with questions. 

We are located at 501 Pierce St. by the Anoka Train Station on 4th ave. Use these driving directions to Anoka Municipal Utility Shop. Pickup hours are Monday-Friday between 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. ONLY.  

Use the door closest to the train station on the side of the building with the gas pumps upon arrival. Directions to items for sale will be provided by office staff.  

If you plan to purchase utility poles, please wear and use the proper safety PPE and equipment, and bring with any help you may need for loading. These items are self-serve, however if any linemen are around, they will help upon request. Please note that most of the time linemen are out in the field working so come prepared with this in mind.
