Candidate filings will be posted to the Secretary of State’s Candidate Filing page as they are received within 24 hours.

Notice of Candidate Filing for Municipal Office 2026

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Minnesota Statute 205.13; Subd 2, that candidate filings for the City of Anoka elected offices will begin:

• Filing Opens- Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and filing can be done
  daily during the week (Mondays - Fridays) until Monday June 2nd with those hours.
•  NOTE:  Our offices will be Closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026.  
• Filing Closes - Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 5:00 pm. 

The amount of candidate filings received will determine whether the City of Anoka will hold a municipal primary election on August 11, 2026.

Candidates for City offices file with the Anoka City Clerk, 2015 First Avenue, Anoka, Minnesota 55303.

City Offices

Regular Municipal Election to elect:

• Mayor for a term of two years.
• City Councilmember (2 seats) for a full-term of four years each.

Cost to File

The cost to file an Affidavit of Candidacy is $20.00.  Individuals may submit a Petition in lieu of the filing fee.  For further information on this, please contact the City Clerk.

Withdrawal of Candidacy

Affidavits of Withdrawal are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 4, 2026.  The filing fee is not refundable.
